Bio
It is my greatest joy to spend a day in my Studio just playing with my paints. Years ago I was introduced to watercolour painting, and my whole world changed. I began to see colours for the very first time.
I am a Calgary born retired nurse, who has dabbled in the art world in a variety of mediums her whole life. I have been painting both in watercolours for almost 40 years and more recently, acrylic over the past 15 years. My inspirations come from my many years of travelling abroad and while living overseas. Scenes from experiences like visiting an Animal Rescue Centre in Townsville Australia, is the subject of my Feeding Time at the Billabong painting. While living on the West Coast, I was inspired to paint about the forgotten and decaying totem poles, to remind us of stories no longer told.
As a self taught artist , I am not afraid to make a mistake and start again. I love to challenge myself. Thus my style of work is somewhat eclectic, both in subject matter as well as style. I love to inject a bit of humour whenever possible and am not afraid of colour. I hope my work resounds with you. If you find yourself smiling in recognition or you happened to break out in a giggle, then I have reached my goal. I hope to touch your heart just a little bit or lighten your day.
In the past I have been a member of :
Federation of Canadian Artist (FAC) Calgary chapter
Canmore Artist Guild (CAG)
Community Arts Council of Saanich Peninsula.
I have sold Art work privately as well as through Galleries on Salt Spring Island , Saanich Peninsula, Saanich, BC, Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta.
I have won Artist Choice award and Patrons award during the Sidney Fine Arts Show 2017.
I have taken workshops from people who inspire me, including:
Marilyn Kinsella, Canmore, Alberta
Kiff Holland, Vancouver BC
Alan Wylie, Vancouver BC
Marney Ward, Victoria BC
A recent move back to Calgary to be a part of my grandchildren’s lives has brought me full circle and I am proud to be living in this beautiful part of the world once more.
Please enjoy. I welcome any and all feedback.
